We’re so proud to announce that we have received a Top Score in this year’s Wood Furniture Scorecard, presented by the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) and the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC). This, coming just shortly after receiving the Green Ribbon Award from the Sustainable Furnishings Council last week. It is an exciting couple of weeks in the world of sustainability and although we don’t do what we do for the awards, being recognized for our commitment to an eco-conscious future in these ways continues to motivate us to keep doing what we’re doing and reassures us that we’re making an impact and hopefully, leading by example.
What is the Wood Furniture Scorecard?
As an initiative of the NWF and SFC, the Wood Furniture Scorecard’s goal is to encourage furniture retailers, big and small, to practice responsible wood sourcing through their complex supply chains. This year’s Scorecard assessed 94 North American furniture retailers ranging from companies as large as Target to small individual-owned shops like us. Those companies’ scores are then published, awarding Honorable Mentions, High Scores, and Top Scores. To earn a Top Score, the company received 18 or more points in the categories of Responsible Wood Sourcing Policy; Responsible Sourcing Practices and Performance; and Additional Actions. Re.dwell scored a 20.

Top Scorers
To see re.dwell — our small, family-owned shop — listed with the likes of companies such as William-Sonoma, Inc., Crate & Barrel, and Target is an honor. But even more so, it’s just so great to see companies of this scale sharing our passion for sustainability and doing their part to implement robust policies that drive responsible wood sourcing practices in order to protect our world’s forests. After the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation is the second leading cause of climate change.
The Wood Furnishings Scorecard shows the world is waking up to the desperate need for attention to be put on our climate crisis and helps hold companies accountable for doing their part. In addition, it helps consumers take a step in the right direction in terms of choosing who they shop with. An Eco-conscious Future
Globally, furniture manufacturers are the third largest wood consumers, behind construction and the paper industry. Furniture companies, therefore, have an enormous responsibility to harvest and use wood sustainably. That is why we at re.dwell are dedicated to sustainability, and committed to working with organizations such as the NWF and SFC to create sustainable supply chains and products that ultimately benefit the environment, and you, our customers.
As consumers, you wield tremendous influence over retailers. Receiving a high score on the 2021 Wood Furniture Scorecard WFSC is important to us because it is important to you, and we hope that it inspires you to shop with us for all your sustainable furniture needs!
